Upgrading My Screen to 24” 1920 x 1200
As much as I love my LG Flatron 22” 1680 x 1050 screen that I have had for about three years I have decided to upgrade. Harris Technology (www.ht.com.au) currently have the amazing DELL U2410 going out for $562. Just six months ago this screen was up around $900.
This is an awesome screen. This is about the best quality LCD computer screen you can get in the ‘budget’ price range without making the jump into professional computer screens that start at about $1,500. ZDNet gave this screen 9 out 10 and it got Editor’s Choice for 24” screens.
It has IPS LCD technology, which is the best, and it has both sRGB and the wider AdobeRGB colour gamuts.
The native resolution is 1920 x 1200 so I am going to get about 30 percent more on the screen than I can with the LG Flatron.
Even PC World, who tend to be a little picky in their reviews of computer screens, gave the U2410 4.5 out of 5.0 and said the following:

I have placed my order and you can be sure I will let you know what I think of it once it arrives and I get it set up.
I can’t decide whether to use both screens in side-by-side mode because my video card supports it, or if that would just look really odd because one screen would be 22” 1680 x 1050 and the other is 24” 1920 x 1200.
The other option would be to use the DELL 24” screen on my home computer where I do all my photo editing and set the LG 22” screen up to connect to my work laptop on Mondays and Fridays when I work from home. Then instead of having to KVM between computers (i.e., share the one screen for bother computers via a KVM as I do now) I would be able to see what is going on with either computer and then just use the KVM to switch the mouse and keyboard between computers.
Decisions, decisions!
