A Year of Posting

About two days ago, on the 18th of August, it was the first anniversary of my site.

On the upside:

  • I have managed to keep posting for a year.
  • I have more or less achieved my aim of posting on a diverse range of subjects.
  • It has given me something to do other than watching television when I am not working.

On the downside:

  • I did not post anywhere near as many photography related articles as I planned to.
  • Hence, the site has not, as I had hoped, got me out taking more photographs.
  • My daily average for visitors is 5, which is pretty pathetic when you consider that there is suppose to be about 180 million people on the Internet at any point in time. Even worse when you consider that I am probably one of those daily visitors myself.
  • In a year I have had only 136 unique visitors.

Interestingly the ‘sexy’ postings did rather well. Postings 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 10 are sort of sexy or easy-on-the-eye postings.

I wish I could remember, or had made a note of, which postings I promoted using Digg to see if putting them on the Digg list did anything at all to my visitor numbers—oh well. Next time maybe.

At this stage I am seriously doubting that I will keep posting for another year. No matter how much ‘fun’ it is to do most time it is pretty deflating only getting an average of 5 visitors per day—and I am one of them.
