Good Example of High-ISO Digital Noise

This comes from the previous post about the ‘Awesome Sexy Red Mobile Phone Holder’ and is a great example of digital noise. Following is a 100 precent crop of the screen on the phone in the first picture of that posting.

The original picture was taken at ISO 6400 and the only digital noise removal that has been done was done in-camera by the Pentax K-5.

This is amazingly low digital noise for a picture taken at ISO 6400 under a combination of CFD and tungsten lighting. Very impressive remembering that the K-5 is a half-frame camera. I would also point at that this picture was taken hand-held at 1/30th of a second.
